One of the most common questions we get asked by friends as well as customers, is why we chose to base of Off-roading business in Spain. There are plenty of European countries to pick from of-course, so what is it that drove us to start our business here, on the beautiful southern coast of Spain? Well, that’s one of the reasons for you right there.
However, while the location as a holiday destination definitely had a part to play in choosing this location, along with the popularity among tourists with Southern Spain, there are some reasons, specific to what we offer, that helped sway us towards where our HQ sits today.
Now, we don’t just mean because it’s nice and hot and perfect for sunbathing, we are talking windchill. For the best off-road biking experience, you need to be protected sure, but you don’t want to be bogged down in heavy and restrictive gear. That means we ride in thin, yet highly protective, racing suits. While this allows you to be more nimble, it also exposures you to the elements and in a low temperature climate, you’d soon be uncomfortably cold. In Southern Spain though, peak season temperatures sit around the late 20s to low 30s, the perfect level of heat to ride in comfortably in our gear. The fact that this sort of temperature is also just right for lazing on the beach then, is just a welcome bonus.
Close to the popular tourist destination of Malaga, it is very easy to reach our HQ. However, while it might be an easy part of Spain to reach, the airport of Malaga is also within a short flying distance of many European countries. Considering then, that the majority our visitors are from countries like the UK. It made sense to have it within a short flying distance.
All others are immaterial really, when it comes to the greatest drive behind setting up RedTread on the southern coast of Spain, and that’s the terrain you will actually be biking across. This area of Europe is complete unique and built for off-road biking. The weather means that only relisant plants can grow year round, with limits the amount of ground coverage, opening up a greater range of off-roading options.
Other countries such as Italy might have the edge on beautiful landscapes, but you can bike through a thick forest full of dense undergrowth, nor can you barrel across a field at full pelt, when the field is knee high in grass and flowers. However, this doesn’t mean our location is dreary, oh no. The dry dirt tracks make for perfect biking, but what really nails it is the mountainous areas. Filled with valleys, ravines and high-running mountain passes, off-roading in Spain is nothing short of a rollercoaster ride, guaranteed to thrill, excite and satisfy your appetite for adventure.
